Excursions

Biokovo

This nature park can be reached through our neighbor village Podgora. The beautiful view points from which one can see the whole city of Makarska and the surrounding islands Hvar, Brac and peninsula Peljesac give significance to this mountain. When the weather is clear it is even possible to see the contours of the Italian coast. The highest peak is Sv. Jure 1762 m. Another beauty of this mountain is the botanic garden with endemic plants.

Dubrovnik

The pearl of the Adriatic coast has been included in UNESCO’s list of cultural heritage. The old town is surrounded by city walls with fortresses and is a treasure trove of architectural and cultural masterpieces carefully preserved over the centuries. It is only a two hour drive from Drasnice. Some highlights in Dubrovnik are: churches, monasteries, fountains, squares and museums.

Split

It is as well included on the UNESCO’s list of cultural heritage. The famous Diocletian palace with more than 1700 years gives great opportunities for sightseeing. Split is the trade and administrative center of Dalmatia. The distance to Split by car is only one hour from Drasnice.

Island of Hvar

The island can be reached by car ferry from Drvenik, which is only a fifteen minutes drive from Drasnice. Arriving at Sucuraj one drives to the other side of the island trough lavender fields and vineyards. The town of Hvar is abundant in historical monuments. Most famous attractions are the 16th century theatre, the 13th century Arsenal and the main square surrounded by numerous churches and palaces. The Franciscan monastery has a rich library and archive, which include the painting “The Last Supper” of Matteo Ingoli. Other small places like Jelsa and Vrboska are worth visiting as well.

Island of Brac

The island can be reached by car ferry from Makarska, which is only a fifteen minutes drive from Drasnice. What makes this island well-known is the authentic stone (stone from Brac) with which the local houses are built. All of the little places are worth visiting and have their own charm. Particularly we recommend the place Bol with the most famous Croatian beach Zlatni rat and the hill Vidova gora from which one has a beautiful view over the island of Hvar, the beach and the coast.
